""In my bibliographies there are no women in the evangelical tradition, and no Australian women scholars."" This unique volume addresses this gap, with eighteen biblically rich and academically rigorous chapters by established and emerging Australian women scholars in the evangelical tradition. The authors consider our relationship with the land and Indigenous peoples, neighborhood, embodiment, (dis)ability, abortion, leadership, work, architecture, the media, Song of Songs and domestic violence, and Jeremiah and weaponized rape, and demonstrate recent methodologies such as a social identity reading of Exodus, sensory readings of Psalms and John's Gospel, and discipleship readings of Mary and Martha and the woman at the well. A contemporary Kriol psalm and stories of pioneering Australian women theological students and teachers complete the volume. Valuable for students and teachers across Bible, theology, ministry, and practice subjects, this book is an essential inclusion in any theological library.

"One of the greatest needs of our day is a deep Christian spirituality, anchored in Scripture, drawing on the Christian tradition, and opening out onto all of life. This volume embodies these characteristics and is thus highly recommended. My hope is that it will be widely read and deepen our spiritual practices both individually and communally. Nothing less than our capacity to spread forth the fragrance of Christ in his world is at stake."--Craig G. Bartholomew, Director, Kirby Laing Centre for Public Theology, Cambridge"The series of reflections on prayer and spirituality captured in this delightfully presented volume is fresh and far-reaching. Set in four sections focusing on God, ourselves, worshipping together, and serving others, it draws in a fine compendium of authors with authentic insights, and offers a study which is both historic and of contemporary relevance. Its engagement with important theological and devotional topics is thorough, inclusive, thoughtful, and urges us all to greater reflection. I believe this book will become a companion to many who want a deeper walk with God."--Elaine Storkey, author, lecturer, and broadcaster"A kaleidoscope of thinking and creativity, gathered together under the overarching theme of prayer and spirituality. This book of essays will inspire, entice, and encourage. It is theological, practical, and biblical, and certainly has me longing to know more of the depths and riches of my relationship with God. Congratulations to all concerned."--Harold Miller, former bishop of Down and Dromore"Prayer is one of God's greatest gifts. Everyone, whether beginning the journey of prayer or further down that road, needs renewal of vision to keep going. All the writers here aim to help Christians rediscover some of the riches of prayer that lie within the Christian faith. The book is wide-ranging and carefully structured to cover intimacy with God, gaining a positive and realistic appraisal of our role in prayer, growing in prayer with others and serving the world through prayer-shaped discipleship. It is exploratory, yet grounded in Scripture, and offers a wealth of material to ponder."--Liz Hoare, Tutor in Spiritual Formation and Dean for Women, Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford
