My name is Jesse Boughton, and I am 30 years of age this year. I am a tradesmen plumber but currently I am a supervisor for an explosive company in the coalmining industry. I have always been a little on the creative side and have enjoyed drawing ever since I was a little kid. Since I began my working career after school I have slowly drifted away from my artistic side and I thought what better time to do something creative then now.

Cleo was bought from a registered breeder, who was at the time my husband's work mate and who brought some adorable Siamese kittens to the television station. He couldn't resist them and soon after brought home one little screamy bundle. The kitten was with us through ups and downs moving from a rented flat to our own unit and then to our newly built home and garden, where she lived for most of her life. It was incredible how quickly she would adapt to a new place yet those were the matters that worried us most. Cleo's arrival changed our life. In a way she taught us, in her dignified way, to be more attentive to her needs while at the same time she was a willing learner to our commands. We became less selfish and more caring. It was clear to us we had a great responsibility looking after this tiny, helpless living being, who was depending on us to live, to survive. To be able to do that, the most important thing is LOVE for animals. People are not bad people because they cannot or want not to have pets. Therefore, it is not a good idea to give a little kitten as a gift to anyone. An individual has to make his/her own decision weather or not he/she would have sufficient love, time and money to care for a pet.

This is one of the stories inspired by a childhood journey with my family from Raga to Wau, towns in western Bahr el Ghazal in the southern part of the Sudan in 1987. What had prompted me to write the memoir had been the events that had followed the South Sudanese attainment of a sovereign state. This is a story that depicted what was sought after even before my birth. I came along and joined the march to demand for equal status. For me most parts of the story had been tough. In my writing, I had to take an expedition of self-composure. I had to take my forethought into an anticipated future and come back to write with that visualization. I had to withdraw my sentiment from what could call for vengeance and speak up for what the child had stood for. Within it is a reflective memoir about the power of a good cause and a family who believed in the triumph of the people. In their enactment, they raised a child within a time disguised by war and social discords. In a subtle journey along the lines of family relations and social associations, the story evolved.

A journey into the soul of our 'humanity' through a series of empathetic photos concerning the Stolen Generation. Imagery that depicts loss, sadness and hope. Images that reflect through the use of symbols a sentiment that words seem unable to convey! Images that bridge the gap between endless written reports and human emotion, that touch the core of our being.

This collection of poems spans a time of my late teenage struggles in the world of a new millennium. With parents both suffering cancer at the same time and a new girlfriend (now wife) having her own massive health struggles but also adding support to a very tumultuous time in my life. I don't know if these poems help understand the meaning of life at all but they certainly were a therapeutic way to take out the emotional garbage that bombarded me. In reflection reading them back it eats at my absolute being how much I have persevered through and still have time to laugh, love and have fun with my kids and wonderful wife now.
