En av världens största författare, JK Rowling (Joanne Rowling), föddes i England 1965. Hon är känd för sina världspopulära böcker som följer trollkarlen Harry Potter och hans skolgång på Hogwarts skola för häxkonster och trolldom, där han och hans vänner gör allt för att bekämpa de onda krafterna som finns i trollkarlsvärlden. J.K. Rowling är språkligt utbildad på Exeter University och arbetade för Amnesty International under en längre tid. Hon började skriva Harry Potter-böckerna på en tågresa mellan Manchester och London och spenderade sedan fem år på att utvidga trollkarlsuniversumet och handlingen till hennes framtida böcker. Hon flyttade till Portugal där hon födde sin dotter, men efter ett avslutat äktenskap bosatte hon sig i Edinburgh. J.K.
