The book consists of Mr. Xie's studies on mythologies and national ethos of the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians, the Indians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Jewish, the Northern Europeans and the Japanese, and is also a comparative study, in penetrating and simple terms, between the above-mentioned mythologies and national ethos and those reflected in the Chinese classics. There are over 300,000 Chinese characters to the book.
