Bloody 57

- The Eagle Pass Disasters

Om Bloody 57

Highway 57 in Eagle Pass, Texas, has been called "Bloody 57" due to the high number of fatal car and Commercial Truck accidents that have affected and played havoc on the entire community because of the hazardous materials they were carrying that spilled over onto the highway causing great environmental harm. The highway is known for its sharp curves and narrow lanes, making it difficult for drivers to navigate safely. Additionally, the area is also known for its high rate of drunk driving, which increases the risk of accidents. These factors have led to numerous fatalities, earning the highway its "Bloody 57" nickname which I coined. Eagle Pass is the fastest route between San Antonio and Mexico and is often called "La Puerta de Mexico" or Mexico's Door. It is also the home to the historic ruins of the 18th-century San Bernardo Mission. Eagle Pass was the first American settlement on the Rio Grande. Originally known as Camp Eagle Pass, it served as a temporary outpost for the Texas militia, which had been ordered to stop illegal trade with Mexico during the Mexican-American War. The Eagle Pass, Texas, community has been greatly affected by the area's numerous truck and railroad hazardous accidents over the past 50 years.
