House flipper and amateur sleuth, Flora Abner, is excited to finally get started on her new flip house. The drywall is going in, and she still has plenty of time to take a shift or two at the hardware store. She's even looking forward to entering a batch of chili into the chili contest at the county fair. Proud of her slowly simmered and slightly spicy entry, Flora thinks that her odds of an award are pretty good...until the chili tasters are rushed to the hospital. What looks like mischief is investigated as murder when one contestant passes. Horrified, Flora goes to inspect the batches of chili and quickly discovers that the one with her name on it, isn't the one that she brought. Someone had murder on their mind and tried to frame Flora for the crime. Determined to get to the truth and salvage her reputation, Flora turns up the heat and will stop at nothing to prove her innocence. Can she do it before they throw the book...or cookbook at her?
