Discovery

Discovery is a work of historical fiction examining the collapse of French colonialism in the Western Hemisphere, and the frenzy of the French Revolution as the fledgling United States of America begins to aspire toward its Manifest Destiny. A forward thinking Thomas Jefferson recognizes the importance of the great Mississippi River drainage and tasks his most trusted man, Meriwether Lewis, to explore its most important tributary, the mighty Missouri River, seeking a Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean. Jefferson's "Corps of Discovery" is to collect flora & fauna along the way, and most importantly to make contact and document the region's indigenous peoples.
