Om Élie Bouhéreau: The Collections and Communities of a Huguenot Refugee
à lie Bouhà reau (1643- 1719) was a French medical doctor and scholar from a prosperous merchant family prominent in the Reformed Church of La Rochelle. After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes Bouhà reau fled France, and the personal library and correspondence of this brilliant refugee wended their way through Europe to become one of the formative collections of Marsh's Library, Dublin, where he served as Ireland's first public librarian. This volume explores the worlds Bouhà reau traversed and impacted through investigation of his print and manuscript collections.
