The start of Cory Iverson's junior year has not been good. She is called a loser and a quitter after being publicly humiliated by the hottest guy in high school and intimidated by a controlling band director. Cory's lost riding dreams, however, are rekindled when her dog directs her to the barn of a former Grand Prix show jumper. Cory leaves her history as a loser in the past when she teams up with the farm's eccentric trainer and a mysterious rescued horse. However, how long? And does she have the guts to try to get into one of the most famous horse shows in the nation? Cory's life is falling apart while she develops confidence in the saddle: odd pills start showing up in her mother's handbag; her ballerina sister is wasting away right in front of her; and her lover is keeping secrets from her. The horse show industry, which she mistakenly believed to be so glamorous, turns out to be extremely dangerous. It doesn't take long for a nasty rival who will do anything to win to notice Cory's winning streak. Being caught in this terrible criminal's sights, Cory must choose whether to back down once more or run away. or continue and defend herself, her horse, and her aspirations.
