Om Gunnar Widforss
A quiet, modest, gracious man, who lived alone and did not prosper from his painting, Gunnar Widforss left a great legacy and a constant source of inspiration to succeeding generations of western landscape painters. The accuracy of his drawing and use of color and his ability to express deep space and atmospheric effects are unrivaled. He was a member of the California Watercolor Society and the Scandinavian-American Artists. His works are held by many important private collections throughout the world and can be viewed at the Yosemite National Park Museum and the Museum of Northern Arizona which held a retrospective of his works in 1969.
The present work showcases a fine array of new photographic images of watercolor paintings by Widforss utilizing the Kvamme process of digital enhancement.
