This volume of essays brings together the work of a number of scholars of the history of lexicography with a particular interest in the paratexts of a range of dictionaries, from the sixteenth century to the twentieth. Topics include lexicographers, marginalia and revision, forematter and backmatter, supplements, publishers, dictionary collections and owners, lists of subscribers, and readers and users of dictionaries.
