Kinship Organisations and Group Marriage in Australia

N. W. Thomas (1868-1936) was one of the first government anthropologists of the colonial era. This work develops and defines crucial anthropological ideas such as consanguinity and kinship terms describing social relations rather than biological relationships, using examples from the indigenous groups of Australia.
