LUKONG AND THE LEOPARD 'In Kimbo, the story is told of a brave lad who did a brave deed and when the Fon ordered that he be given a red-feathered cap and the title of Mformi, a mad man ran into the palace with a cutlass and set the leopard free in an attempt to kill it. Who this man was, where he came from and where he went to after that incident nobody knows. The boy escaped thinking they meant him ill' THE WHITE MAN OF CATTLE When Major Walters, the white man of cattle, uses his white man's medicine to innoculate the local people's cattle against infection and their dogs against rabies, they think he is trying to poison their animals. Their fear of the white man turns to hatred and leads to tragedy. KENJO JUMBAM was born in Banso, in Cameroon, and was educated at the Sacred Heart School, Shisong, St. Peter's Teacher Training College, Bambui, Government Teacher Training College, Kumba, and at the College of Arts and Sciences, Bambili. He later taught at Bambui, and at Lourdes Secondary School, Mankon, Bamenda. In 1967 he did a Diploma in the teaching of English at the University of Wales and then returned to Cameroon to teach.
