Om Memoria Sobre O Estado Actual De Senegambia Portugueza
This historical report was written by Honório Pereira Barreto in 1843, at a time when Portugal was struggling to maintain its colonial presence in West Africa. Barreto's report provides a detailed analysis of the economic, social, and political factors underlying the decline of the Portuguese colony of Senegambia, as well as recommendations for how to revitalize it. While some of Barreto's proposals may seem outdated today, his report remains an important historical document for understanding the complex dynamics of colonialism in 19th-century Africa.
