Om Olivia's Book
For centuries we have used animals to tell children's stories that carry our anxieties and hopes, our fears and ideals. Olivia's Book gives voice to a female marmoset pup. Marmosets have long tails and claws which help them cling to tree branches and groom each other. They eat fruits and live in small groups of 2 to 15 individuals, usually consisting of a breeding pair and their offspring. In her imaginary book, Olivia, our marmoset pup, drafts her story in nineteen micro scenes. She shows her daily life. The scenes -- which revolve around books, jealousy, games, dreams, fears, guilt, and separations -- create the story of the young marmoset who learns to think for herself and becomes independent.
