Only the Night for My Friend

1899. Tensions between the British and the Afrikaaner Boers of South Africa are coming to a head. The question: who is to govern the Transvaal State and control the rich gold fields of the Rand? With war seeming inevitable, the Wutonga Lancers are uprooted from their depot in Rhodesia and dispatched south to help protect the British border until urgent reinforcements can arrive. Among them is Redvers Ross, who at the age of twenty has just assumed his first command in the regiment and faces his greatest test. Soon Redvers and his Troop will be pitched into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse as the Boers close in. This is a war of ideologies as the Boers struggle to defend ther independence. What is more, Redvers must soon turn spycatcher when he realises that there is a traitor in the Wutongas' midst.
