All of her life has been a struggle to survive, and now Brenda has a new battle to add to the burden: to ensure her baby brother doesn't have to live the abuse she and her sisters endured. Life in Hatchet Prairie is a relentless mountain ahead of her, with her toxic family and the demanding religion of the community.
