Om Primary School Stories
Writing stories is a timeless art and what does a good story entail? Over the centuries, narrative theorists have analysed thousands of stories and found the building blocks that make up the most popular story types.
In education, using generic story plots as teaching tools has proven to be an effective way to help students develop their reading and writing skills. Model texts are used as a starting point to embed vocabulary, grammar and plot structures. Internalising and analysing model texts has proven to be an effective way to help students develop their writing skills. Primary School Stories is a range of 35 model texts, categorised against five different plot types: Warning Tales
Defeating the Monster Tales
Quest Stories
Losing Tales
Wishing Tales Each text is short enough to allow the children to learn the story off by heart, and in the process embed the structure, syntax, grammar and vocabulary. The stories are written to include key grammar and vocabulary concepts taught at primary school levels, and are simple enough for educators to adapt them to the specific needs of their class. The model texts match pedagogical approaches to teaching writing in Primary Schools across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and across Grades 1-12 in the US.
