Om Some of Us Are Brave (Vol 2)
A society founded and steeped in both white supremacy and cis-heterosexual patriarchy (and by extension, misogyny) by definition belittles and ignores the voices of women of color in general and Black women in particular (misogynoir). Part of the corrective to that was the centering and airing of Black women''s voices through Some of Us Are Brave: A Black Women''s Radio Program that aired on Pacifica-Los Angeles (KPFK 90.7 FM) from 2003 until 2011. The program covered a myriad of issues by amplifying the voices of a broad cross-section of Black women. Some of those voices have been preserved as transcripts and they primarily make up this work. Based on interviews with Asata Shakur, Barbara Ramsy, Carol Boyce-Davies, Euzhan Palcy, Michelle Alexander, Evelyn White, Paula Giddings, Pearl Cleage, Ramona Africa and Sisters on the Run.
