This is the song of a broken heart.
Two people meet, and fall immediately and deeplyd in love. But both are already in unhappy marriages with small children. Even so, both hearts begin to sing a new song and dream of a new life in which love and joy can flourish.
Consumed by an all-encompassing love, the Prince sings of desire and love and beauty and truth. But then the song turns to a lament, as his heart is broken in two by empty promises, and the pain of what may not be.
