I'll admit when I caught a murder on my very first night of wearing that probationary sheriff's badge, I found myself rethinking my wisdom in taking that position.
It wasn't that I didn't think I could do the job. I was very good at enforcing the law. Very, very good. In fact, I was rather uniquely suited to the task, I thought. I had no blinders keeping the paranormal truth of things from my vision.
Why? Because I was the paranormal. Twice over, as a matter of fact.
But that first case had the potential to turn my calm little world on its head. That's because the victim was Vinnie George--a known wolf hunter. Couple that with the bite marks on the body, and it looked more than likely that we were searching for a killer wolf. Or rather, a killer werewolf.
That meant the Luparri werewolf hunters would be on the prowl. Which shouldn't be all that much of an issue, as I happened to know the local Luparri agent. Actually, I was kind of dating the man.
My main problem? He didn't know I was a werewolf.
Well, half werewolf, anyway.
