Systema Plantarum

A landmark work of botanical classification, Systema Plantarum was published in 1735 by Swedish botanist Carl von Linné (also known as Linnaeus). Serving as a foundation for modern taxonomy, the work describes and classifies over 7,000 plant species according to a standardized system based on their reproductive organs and other characteristics.
