Mrs. Magnolia Moreau was born and raised in Mississippi, the product of a Creole mother and Irish father. She takes great joy in preparing home-cooked Southern meals, caring for her ailing husband, and indulging her passion-gardening. Her neighbors and townsfolk know her as a quiet woman full of wisdom and a kind soul. However, Magnolia has a secret.
She has a green thumb that has turned crimson red. A rather malevolent gift has afforded her the ability to grow dark-petaled wishes-from the bloody root. There's no such thing as a free lunch, and no good deed goes unpunished. Magnolia is sought after and compensated for her extraordinary talent by people far and wide, but perhaps her price is much too high. Too bad for those that come up short for they may soon be pushing up daisies, right next to her begonias.
