Om The Business of Medicine
This book gives the Long View of the Business of Medicine based upon my experience starting as a medical student seeing patients for the first time in 1970 until the present day. This is another window into medicine as experienced from the viewpoint of a clinician at the point of service with the patient.
The reader will learn that medicine changes from time to time and from place to place.
The reader will learn that the rate of change is increasing and Artificial Intelligence is knocking at the door to make the rate of change even faster.
Finally, the reader will learn that the patient is not alone with the doctor. Other "Stakeholders," are there with their strings manipulating the doctor like a puppet.
The cast of characters includes the FDA, CDC, NIH, American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Hospital Association, politicians at every level of state and local government, law enforcement agencies, various courts, anonymous complaint filers, gun control lobbyists, FBI, NSA, State Medical Boards, Malpractice Companies, Peer Review Committees, Supervisors, Quality Care Committiess, Medical Insurance Companies, Advocates for each minority that choose to become "Protected Minorities," and any group that wishes to impose Virtue Signaling between the patient and the Science of Medicine, Pharmacuetical Companies, Lobbyists for Pharmaceutical Companies, and Social Media and News Agencies, and anyone who choose to enter the arena at any time whether in the open or anonymously. Whistle Blower Laws are not very good at protecting doctors wishing to speak the truly.
