Om The Histories
In this charmingly outrageous collection of modern poetry, Titus Naso treats us to a sampling of the life stories and events that shape our collective character.
The Histories are poems about historical persons: poets and Emperors, engineers and physicists, politicians and planters. Many of the poems relate to themes of self-realization and overcoming one's limitations.
The Histories begins with just a few of our favorite modern cultural icons; then makes us weep with grim tales about the exile of the poet Ovid by the Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar two millennia ago; then makes our hair stand on end with a reminder of some of the disastrous and transformative experiences American society endured in 2020 and 2021: the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, the 2020 Presidential elections, and the attempted insurrection of January 6, 2021. Finally, Naso rounds out the collection with a few cultural anecdotes.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll rage about it on Twitter (or whatever they call it now).
