Caroline Dalglish is a young freelance features writer, recently widowed when her husband, a brilliant Oxford historian, dies in an accident.
She had been quietly adjusting to life without John when she is approached by the UK Government, which offers her funding to undertake research for an article about The Foundation, a suspicious organisation based in San Francisco. The new assignment pulls Caroline into an exciting romance and puts her life, and that of her new love, in danger.
