Every serious Christian wants to know how to draw closer to God. From Augustine and the early Christian mystics like Brother Lawrence and Thomas à Kempis through the Anabaptists and the Reformers, Wesley and the English Puritans, on into Pentecostals and others, people have wrestled with the quest for piety and closeness to God through Christ. Instead of a Bible study, this is more of a historical theological journey through spirituality as seen and envisioned by great students of the Bible and Christian experience through the ages.
