Om Diverticulitis Treatment and Management
Diverticulosis occurs when a weakened section of the digestive tract wall protrudes and forms a pouch known as a diverticulum. The majority of these pouches develop in the lower colon, situated on the lower left side of the abdomen. Individuals typically become aware of colonic diverticula during routine colon screenings, as they seldom produce noticeable symptoms.
Diverticulitis, on the other hand, refers to an infection or inflammation of these diverticula. This condition is more prevalent in individuals over the age of 60 and is uncommon among those under 30.
It's important to note that diverticulosis can manifest in any part of the gastrointestinal tract, encompassing the pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, and anus.
