Fr. Gabriel Infante, a Catholic priest known by many as the Miracle Weaver in the City of San Antonio, Texas, decided to leave the priesthood upon learning that he had miraculously procreated a little baby girl impregnating his beloved Theresa Reynolds when she was a consecrated virgin, a religious sister. Far away from Gabriel, the pregnant virgin had already left religious life to bear her child on her own, thinking the Texas mystic would never leave his miraculous priestly ministry. After a desperate search, the two lovers met again in San Francisco, California, and agreed to get married. They enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii, and they returned to established themselves as a lay couple in the area of the "City by the Bay", facing the Pacific Ocean. Gabriel and Theresa Infante, expecting their first baby, find support from some new friends advanced in years in a small city near San Francisco and begin their married life with God's blessing. Satan and his evil hordes are no satisfied with the new situation, despite the fact that their wish to have the Miracle Weaver out of the priesthood had ultimately been achieved. Gabriel remains at the service of the King of Kings now as a layman, helping his neighbors as an instrument of the Almighty who continues performing signs and wonders through the humble Texan. The life circumstances of the mystic might have changed by having his own family to support and protect, but the battle is still the same as before against the infernal forces and their human followers. The San Antonian finds employment as a handyman in a home repair business where he learns new skills. The happy couple with their baby daughter goes to visit Gabriel's parents in Mexico, where they suffer a terrible ordeal at the hands of an evil gang of kidnappers, thieves, and rapists. The fortune of the new family keeps turning over all the time they stay living in California until the circumstances force them to get away.

The cure comes across a particularly interesting character under perfect satanic possession, and he has to deal with him in the only lawful way. Gabriel is unaware of the long-term complications his brush with this odd character will have, not only in the exorcist's personal life but also in the fate of the entire world in years to come. The dark night of Gabriel's soul comes to him during the holidays at the end of 1996. Satan takes advantage of the mystic's weakened situation and assigns a demon specialized in whispering to souls. The Miracle Weaver has to face his greatest challenge yet when a trio of wealthy and beautiful characters comes into his life to tempt him with power, fame, and pleasure.

In The Calling of the Miracle Weaver, the first novel in the Miracle Weaver Saga, we meet a young Gabriel Infante being ordained as a Catholic priest in the city of San Antonio, Texas. From the start of his new career Gabriel learns that God has some extraordinary plans for his life: he heals the ordaining archbishop of his Parkinson's disease. The news of a newly appointed mystic spread quickly in the spiritual underground where Satan and his hordes of demons normally work in the expansion of the culture of death. The Prince of Darkness assigns five of his demons to stalk the young presbyter and do all in their power to get him to quit his ministry. The forces of evil meet their match in the valiant cleric who engages all their challenges as he learns about his mystical gifts. While many people are delighted to witness the signs and wonders God works through the cleric, some are suspicious of him and wish to unmask him as a fraud. Father Gabriel is an attractive man with a sense of humor, good rhythm on the dance floor, a great singing voice, the strength of "an ox" and a devastating punch in the boxing ring, so a number of beautiful women get overly attracted to his charismatic personality. This creates a scandalous situation that places the Miracle Weaver in trouble with the Church Authorities within his first year of ministry.

Linda Richards, a very attractive woman who dies accidentally electrocuted, is revived by the Miracle Weaver and then becomes quite interested in making the priest hers. Sister Theresa, first proposes hiring the revived, unemployed single mother at their parish school, and then has to contend with the unexpected rival for the mystic's attention. A gang member becomes possessed by the devil and is causing severe tribulation in the parish; Fr. Gabriel must confront the evil spirit in his young friend through an exorcism. When the two religious' passionate romance becomes uncontainable, they encounter an interesting character from their common past, Barbara Williams, who sets up a seduction for the mystic in the privacy of her luxurious, isolated estate. Fr. Gabriel must now decide if he wants to remain faithful to his promises to God, or make happy the woman he loves.

Father Gabriel Infante completed four years of military service in the US Army as a chaplain assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He matured as a priest, mystic, and athlete, ministering to the military community, engaging the forces of evil even to the point of performing his very first exorcism, and attaining the coveted boxing title of Heavyweight Champion of the United States Armed Forces. Fr. Gabriel served honorably in the Gulf War in 1991 as an outstanding chaplain saving lives, healing wounded soldiers, and rescuing prisoners of war while maintaining a loving relationship with his beautiful redheaded assistant. He survived it all and decided to return home where things had cooled down at the chancery. Now that he is back in San Antonio, the Miracle Weaver must continue his never-ending battles against the netherworld, still bound on causing him harm and trying to get him to resign his ministry. Her triplet brothers, an army colonel, a bishop, and a politician set out to rescue the kidnapped victim aided by the ghost of a slain religious sister.

In this story we can see the friendly Miracle Weaver acting as a good parish priest in his community, preaching, baptizing, marrying, visiting the sick, burying some of the dead, reviving others, converting sinners, expelling demons, counseling his flock and his friends. At the same time that the happy mystic performs his ordinary and extraordinary ecclesiastical duties, he must use his fists in order to defend his people against violent foes as well as to teach a lesson in humility to an arrogant professional fighter. Afterwards, we accompany him and his two 'archangel' companions during a short vacation in Cozumel, where temptations, excitement, and adventures enveloped them in the Mexican Caribbean.
