Why does this keep happening to me?
For the second time, I've had to quit my job because my boss can't keep his hands to himself.
I've already been blackballed from one career, forcing me to start over, and now I have to do it again. I have no idea how I'm going to do that, but a trip to Maine to visit my best friend is the perfect place to start. Returning though, brings me face-to-face with the man who's been on my mind day and night for months. Sheriff Ryan Taylor is good looking, cocky, fills out his uniform perfectly, and is capable of making me forget who I was before him, which scares me more than anything. That's why I have to keep my distance.
Until a massive snowstorm hits, and I'm stranded with barely any food, no working phone, and no way to leave. Ryan comes to me like a white knight, except he has more than a simple rescue in mind. He wants me to stay with him until the storm passes, making it that much harder to keep my distance from the man I want more than anything when he's going to be right down the hall. It turns out though, that he has very persuasive ways of getting me to give up the one thing I've held onto with a vice-like grip, dissolving it under his touch. My control. But I'm the girl who doesn't get attached. So when things get too real, too fast, I do the only thing I can think of. Run.
