Om My Psalms: A faith-based poetry book
In the Old Testament, King David wrote the book of Psalms, notably the longest and most inspirational book in the entire Bible. Psalms is a record of songs, poems, and prayers David wrote to God. If you've read most or even some of them, you would see how he had written them during the highest and lowest points of his life and let me tell you, he didn't hold back. This man, a man after God's own heart, who was blessed with the abundances of what life had to offer also experienced stages of suffering, betrayal, grief, heartache, stress, anxiety, and depression. However, even though all those struggles he still humbled himself and went to the Almighty God, Jehovah Jireh in prayer. My Psalms is a poetry book inspired by raw emotions and experiences and how they affected me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether you're a believer in Jesus Christ or not, I believe these poems will meet you right where you are. As a young woman of God, who battles with depression and anxiety, I'm here to tell you; "You are not alone. God sees you; He hears your broken cries and prayers, and He is for you." In a way, My Psalms can be your Psalms too. Indayia Foster is a young woman in her mid-20's, a sister of a twin sister, a younger brother and is a devote follower of Jesus Christ. Since she was two-years old, she grew up in a religious home. In her late teens to adulthood, she struggled with severe anxiety and depression. It wasn't until she grew to have her own relationship with God that she truly started to understand just how wonderful He is and how much impact He has on her life. In late 2020 she was faced with her own traumatic experiences that later taught her how to lean on the Lord completely for refuge and strength. These poems are her raw thoughts and emotions spoken into words, emotions that ignited in light of these devastating events. Her prayer is that others who may have had similar experiences can relate and take heart and know that they are not alone. Sometimes, we get depressed and it's okay to not be okay. But just know that Jesus is an ever-present help and can whether you through even the most dreadful storms. He sees you; He hears you and He loves you, tremendously, even in this moment.
