There is a significant absence of engagement in the literature with how natural heritage is represented today within museums, parks and natural sites as well as within political, media and public discourse. This book fills this important gap by exploring the heritage of natural history in Britain. It focuses on the ideas, values and agendas that have defined the representation and reception of the history of the natural world within contemporary society and addresses how the heritage of natural history is used to shape social, political, cultural and moral identities.
