Om The Women of the Bible
Susana was a beautiful young Jewish woman. She lived in Babylon with her family. The Holy Scriptures, in the Book of Daniel, only mention the name of her father: Hilkiah. The biblical text metaphorically, includes her mother only when it says: "Her parents were righteous and hah brought up their daughter according to the law of Moses". The cultured and attractive Susana married with the richest and most influential man in Babylon (Daniel 13:1-5).
At the time, two elders were appointed to fill the positions of judges. Often, they visited Joachin's house seeking his advice for different cases. Since Joachin was the most educated and prestigious person in the city. These judges used to come and go through the garden of Joachin's house; but the only thing that they wanted were see to Susana, Joachin's wife. They became so obsessed with Susana that they got to the point of wanting to rape her (Daniel 13:6-8).
