Mitch and Melody Ambrose, a 50-something suburban Massachusetts couple in the throes of "empty nest syndrome," are drawn into the investigation of a suspicious death at a local nursing home. What the two ex-journalists uncover sets in motion a series of life-rattling events and revelations. Along the way, they also re-discover each other and the victim's far-flung family is brought together with a common purpose of avenging his death.
